Q
Who is eligible to apply for CID?
A
To be eligible to join the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), candidates must hold the rank of Officer or higher in the Los Santos Police Department (LSPD) or Deputy or higher in the Blaine County Sheriff's Office (BCSO).
Probationary officers or deputies can submit a letter of interest using the same form, but must wait until they complete academy training, pass their training phases, and accumulate at least 14 days of patrol experience before the transfer is finalized. Q
What qualities do we seek in an applicant?
A
We look for confidence, attention to detail, and adherence to proper procedures in our applicants.
New detectives must be willing to learn and improve, and they should demonstrate a commitment to excellence. We hold our detectives to a high standard due to the level of trust and autonomy they are given. We need applicants to not only believe in themselves but also inspire confidence in us.
Q
How should I prepare my letter of interest?
A
Your letter of interest should be thorough and detail-oriented. We expect a high standard of quality in these submissions, reflecting the level of detail you would include in case files, filings, and arrest reports.
Q
What happens after my letter of interest is reviewed?
A
CID Command will reach out to you, either inviting you to an interview or informing you of the outcome if your letter of interest is not selected. If your submission is not selected, you may resubmit your letter of interest after a 14-day waiting period.
CID aims to process letters of interest within 14 days.
Q
What should I expect in the interview?
A
The interview will include questions about police procedures, case laws, and scenarios to assess your problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Additionally, we may ask questions about your personal background and character to gain a deeper understanding of who you are beyond your professional work.
